Motor Team

The Motor Team provides adaptive physical education, occupational and physical therapy services to children with disabilities ages three through twenty-one within the Region 14/Hopewell Center service area.  Assessment, consultation services and professional development are also provided upon request of school districts within the Region 14/Hopewell Center service area. The Motor Team works closely with district staff and families to promote success and independence in the school and community.

Occupational Therapy ~ A related service designed to enhance a student’s ability to fully access and be successful in the learning environment. This might include working on handwriting or fine motor skills so the child can complete written assignments, learning to use school tools such as scissors, helping the child organize themselves in the environment (including work space and personal belongings), working with the teachers to modify the classroom and/or adapt learning materials to facilitate successful participation.

Physical Therapy ~ A related service designed to provide educationally based physical therapy that supports the inclusion of students within their educational environment and should not replace the need for additional private therapy services. School based physical therapy services that are provided may include posture and mobility skills, gross motor activities, transitions, safety and equipment needs within the school setting.
