Business Advisory Council Scholarship Award Tree

WILMINGTON — The Clinton County Business Advisory Council (BAC) awarded its Integrity
Scholarship to eight area graduating seniors who demonstrate academic promise, ethics, and ambition.

2017 Business Advisory Council Speech Contest

At the November 17, 2017 meeting of the Clinton County Business Advisory Council (BAC), four students from Clinton County schools participated in the BAC Speech Contest, reciting a patriotic speech written by Elmer Williams, entitled “I Speak for Youth.”  Ricky Davis from Blanchester Local Schools won 1stplace and was awarded a $100 prize.  Other participants, receiving a runner-up prize of $25, were Andrew Garrett, Clinton-Massie High School; Cameron Fithen, Laurel Oaks; and Samantha Burns, Wilmington High School.  BAC members, who include various business and school leaders as well as Elmer Williams, judged the competition which was held at the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center.  Monetary prizes were donated by BAC members.

2017 Ohio PBIS Showcase

The 2017 Ohio PBIS Bronze, Silver, and Gold Recognition with award-winning school leadership teams met on November 30th. Presenting teams will provide practical examples and resources for efficient, effective and sustained implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

Spelling Stars at East Clinton Middle School Sixth grader McKayla Long earns top honors

East Clinton Middle School Spelling Bee 2017-2018

Did you know this year marks nine decades of the National Spelling Bee?  The National Spelling Bee was founded in 1925 and has been held continuously since, except during a three-year hiatus during World War II years of 1943-1945.  To determine finalists for the annual school-wide bee at East Clinton Middle School, students recently participated in preliminary Spelling Bee competitions in their English Language Arts classes.  Grade level finalists were then selected based on performance in those classroom bees.  To help prepare for the school-wide bee, students were provided with potential word lists to study. 

Joey Kocher wins CMMS National Geographic Bee Moves One Step Closer to $50,000 College Scholarship

All students at Clinton-Massie Middle School recently competed in a National Geographic Bee Preliminary Competition in their Social Studies/American History classes to determine the school’s Top 10 finalists for the school competition.  School finalists were sixth grader Micah Wissman; seventh graders Jarren Gale, Luke Goodwin, Joey Kocher, and Owen Trick; and eighth graders Jacob Conard, Ethan Johnson, Malachi O’Leary, Ben Smith, and Abbey Steed.

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center Hosted Its 21st Four County Board Meeting

Clinton County—The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center hosted its 21stAnnual Four-County Board and Dinner Meeting March 20th, 2018 at the Laurel Oaks Career Campus in Wilmington.  Board of Education members, administrators, and honored guests from Adams, Clinton, Fayette, and Highland Counties were among those in attendance.

Southern Ohio ESC Receives Auditor of the State Award

A recent financial audit of Southern Ohio Educational Service Center by the Auditor of the State's office has returned a clean audit report.  Southern Ohio ESC's excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award.
