School Psychologist (Adams County Ohio Valley School District)

Position: School Psychologist (to serve Adams County Ohio Valley Schools)

Grade Levels to be Served: Preschool and Kindergarten
Locations:
  • North Adams Elementary

  • Peebles Elementary

  • West Union Elementary

  • Adams County Head Start Centers as needed (Peebles Head Start in Peebles, Ohio and Tiffin Early Childhood Center in West Union, Ohio)

General Description: Under administrative direction, the school psychologist contributes to required evaluations of special needs children and other non-identified suspected special needs children; interprets evaluation results; participates in the determination of eligibility for special education; and consults with families, teachers, and administrators relating to the education and/or mental health of children.  The school psychologist may provide support as a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Team Member on the district’s MTSS team and may work with the Early Childhood Community Partners to provide support in a team approach.  Reference the job description linked below for additional information.

  2. Valid Ohio School Psychologist Certificate/License.

  3. National Certified School Psychologist Association (preferred).

2024-25 Itinerant Teachers for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Position: Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Location: Hopewell Center | Southern Ohio Educational Service Center

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center is currently seeking multiple licensed Itinerant Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2024-2025 school year.

General Description: Selected candidates will provide supplemental aids and services necessary to enable students who are deaf/hard of hearing to progress in the general curriculum and advance appropriately toward achieving educational goals.

Qualifications:
  1. Ohio Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Educator Licensure/Certification (Ohio Intervention Specialist Hearing Impaired PK-12 Licensure)
  2. Training and/or experience in teaching children/youth who are hearing impaired and working effectively with educators and families.
  3. Demonstrates basic sign skills expressively and receptively (conversational) and/or advancing towards sign proficiency.
  4. Must pass a criminal background check.
  5. Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Interested candidates must possess proper licensure or the ability to obtain Intervention Specialist Hearing Impaired PK-12 Licensure through the Ohio State Board of Education.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree in the area for which the employee has primary responsibility (i.e., education, special education, early childhood education, education administration or an appropriate related field or evidence of equivalency).

  2. Three to five years of successful classroom teaching, school improvement     planning, special education administration, or related experience; a license     appropriate to the individual’s profession (special education administration, intervention specialist, early learning, age 3 to grade 3, related services).

  3. Expertise and/or significant leadership experience in several of the following areas:

    1. Knowledge of IDEA, ESSA, and Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA);

    2. Data analysis, including data-based decision making and a thorough understanding of Ohio’s accountability system;

    3. Research-based instructional practices, particularly development and implementation of academic and behavior supports;

    4. Focused planning, including use of strategic problem solving;

    5. Coaching and consultation skills;

    6. Implementation and monitoring of improvement efforts;

    7. Culturally responsive practices;

    8. Delivery of high-quality professional development and technical assistance;

    9. School administration;

    10. Early childhood education, preschool special education, early education preschool to grade 3, or other early childhood setting such as Head Start or community-based childcare; and/or

    11. Special education.
