Literacy Services Available

1.        Facilitation of the Reading–Tiered Fidelity Inventory (R-TFI 2.0)

When a district wants to examine how their systems support the literacy development of their students, one step in that process may be to conduct the updated Reading-Tiered Fidelity Inventory (R-TFI 2.0) to ensure their work is focused on the documented strengths and needs of each building for both Tier 1 instruction and higher tiers of intervention. The R-TFI 2.0 is typically completed by a Building Leadership Team or a Building Literacy Team with facilitation by the RELS, who has been trained in this process.

2.       Support for implementation of the Acadience K-6 Reading Assessment

The RELS is a trained Acadience Reading trainer and mentor. She can provide training and technical assistance in administering this curriculum-embedded early literacy assessment. She can work with teacher teams to interpret and use the data gained to adjust instruction for greater literacy outcomes.

3.       Technical assistance with classroom environment and literacy curriculum selection / implementation

Some pre-service teacher preparation programs do not focus time on how to improve the acquisition of early literacy skills. Students grow in literacy at widely varying rates, and some early literacy strategies have proven both necessary and helpful at older grade levels. The RELS would be happy to visit, observe in the classroom, and work with teachers to plan refinements to help with literacy learning.

4.       PD in various topics related to literacy

The RELS provides a variety of book studies on literacy-related topics, multiple networks for leaders of literacy in all age groups, and can provide on-site professional development as needed.
